CULTURAL ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AUDIENCES

144190_escmusicaThe Comú of Escaldes-Engordany presented the cultural and youth activities for 2018-2019 aimed at children, young people and adults. Registrations can be made at the Municipal Paperwork Service from 3rd September to 14 or 21 September, depending on the activity.


The culture department has a range of workshops and activities that this year includes some novelties. The activities that can be done throughout the season are plastic arts, ballroom dancing, choral dancing, on line dance, modern dance, tap dancing and textile and glass workshop. After the success of the last edition, "The Key: art notes for adults” is back: an introduction to art designed for non-experts in the field.


Regarding the activities aimed at a younger public, we find the "Cooking Saturdays", the "Art and Water Saturdays" and the "Secret Saturdays" in which the youngest will be introduced to the world of documentation and research to discover the past of the country.


The music school is one of the most important elements of this offer, which offers classes in musical language, piano and guitar.


Apart from the cultural, ludic and sports programme, the Espai Jovent offers support and advice to young people in their studies, hobbies and professional projects throughout the year.

THE ACTIVE POPULATION REACH FIGURES OF BEFORE THE CRISIS

The active population, people between 15 and 64 years who exercise paid employment, was of 43.402 people in the first quarter of 2018. The figures are similar to those before the economic crisis, since in 2010 the active population was of 43.050 people. In the same sense, the unemployment rate stands at 2.3%, a point below the value of the first quarter of 2017. Currently, the total number of the employed population is 44.442 people, which is an increase of 0.6 points over the previous quarter and of 1,7 points compared to the same period of 2017.

Regarding the unemployment rate, 2,3%, remains at the minimum values ​​and the number of unemployed is estimated at 1.040 people.

MIX OF MUSICAL RHYTHMS IN THE CAPITAL

Musical rhythms return to our capital! The celebrations will take place in the Plaça de la Rotonda in Andorra la Vella and will last throughout the month of August where every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., you will enjoy a mix of musical styles. In this third edition, you can enjoy new performances such as those of the group Els més esperats i els que més agraden, Mariachis that will arrive on August 23 from the hand of the group Mariachi Misto.

The celebration, will begin on August 2 with the performance of the esbart of Andorra la Vella. Other performances will be those of the Habaneras of the group Els Cremats, on August 7, and the Cuban airs of Yadira Ferrer Quartet on the 9th.

Other planned performances will pay tribute to several artists such as Joan Manel Serrat (August 14) and Stevie Wonder (August 21).

Jazz will be the protagonist two days. With a flamenco touch will act Oleándole on the 16th and with a touch of blues, on the 28th, Soweto.

Vintage music could not miss this year and will be, precisely, the rhythm that will close this celebration with the group The Absolute Bellinis.

REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS GROW 4,4%

After the increase of 7,7% registered during the first quarter of this year, the number of real estate transactions continues to grow during this second quarter by 4,4%, according to the datum published by the Statistics Department, which show an increase of 9,6% in the last twelve months.

In this regard, commercial stores and warehouses stand out, where growth was 43,8%, from 16 transactions during the second quarter of 2017 to 23 of this year. In the case of apartments, single-family homes and buildings, the increase was 25,4% after passing from 484 transactions in 2017 to 607 that have taken place between the past months of April and June.

PASSIVE RESIDENTS INVEST ALMOST 500 MILLON EUROS IN ANDORRA SINCE 2012

Since July 2012, when the Passive residence Law reform was approved a total of 445,219,657 euros have been invested in Andorran assets.

Most of this investment has been directed to the purchase of real estate, in the form of chalets or flats.

Since July 2012 until May 2018 following Passive Residencies have been approved:

- 1,260 residences without lucrative activity,

- 61 professionals with international projection and

The Carmen Thyssen Museum in Andorra, from July 1 will allow visitors to 'drink' some works of art from the exhibition 'Allées et Venues'.
With the collaboration of Infus, they have created five different infusions inspired by five significant paintings by Johan Barthold Jongkind, Albert Bierstadt, Modest Urgell and Inglada, Canaletto and Paul Gaugin.
During the 'Art & Sentits' activity, visitors will contemplate the painting from the perspective of the odors, and at the end they will be able to taste the five infusions inspired by these paintings.

A NEW ENGLISH SCHOOL WILL BE OPENED IN ANDORRA

On March 21, the corresponding agreement was signed by the mayor, Conxita Marsol, and the administrator and head of the "British School of Andorra", Rafael Valverde.
The school will start operating from September 2018 and will be located on the Comella road.
At the moment, it is estimated that a total of 150 children will be able to study at pre-school and primary school (children from 3 to 11 years old).
The main language of the school will be English. But classes will also be taught in Catalan, Spanish and French

ANDORRA 2018 - SKI WORLD CUP "FLYING KILOMETER"

This "Ski World Cup" race will take place from April 5 to 7, 2018 in Andorra - Grandvalira 
 on the Riberal - Grau Roig track. 

The total length of the track is 900 meters with a vertical drop of 200 m (plus an additional 10 meters of a special descent tower) and a braking area of 450 m.

3.642 FLIGHTS DURING 2017 AT THE ANDORRA AIRPORT - LA SEU

Since the opening of the Andorra - La Seu airport, the number of commercial flights has been multiplied by five. During the year 2017 the airport has registered 3,642 flights. It is expected that this data will continue to increase in 2018 and even more so when the certification for ILS instrument flights is available, although there is still no stipulated date.

SKI SEASON IN ANDORRA

If the weather allows, the ski season begins this Saturday 16 November 2019 at the resort Ordino-Arcalís (now part of Grandvalira!), opening until 03 May 2020. The rest of the resorts Grandvalira and Vallnord will start the season on Saturday 30 november 2019 until the 13 April 2020.
